Picnic Table

This project shows how I have went about creating batches of picnic tables. The tables are 6ft long, and are primarily constructed for 6x2 pressure treated timber although there is some 4x2 material used too.

Materials

Cut List

Part Quantity Size Material
Tabletop Slats 5 1800 mm 6x2
Seat Slats 4 1800 mm 6x2
Legs (A-frame) 4 750 mm (angled) 4x2
Cross Members 2 1450 mm 4x2
Angled Braces 4 600 mm (cut at 45°) 4x2

Current Process

  1. Cut all timber to length according to the cut list.
  2. Build A-frames using a jig.
  3. A-frame assembly Jig used for building A-frames
  4. Connect two A-frames with cross members.
  5. Install two boards for the seats to set spacing, then fit the two outer boards on the tabletop.
  6. Seat installation for alignment Outer tabletop boards installed
  7. Add 45° angled supports underneath.
  8. Angled supports fitted
  9. Install the remaining tabletop slats.
